Iâm sending this newsletter while skiing âˇď¸đď¸
Iâm enjoying a 1 week's vacation in the Alps, in France, and will try not to work too much. Mountain is great when you need fresh air (in a big city, at least).
And skiing is a great way to empty your mind when you have a lot of work. And you should do it too. Even if you think staying out of the office for a week will slow you down, it will do the contrary!
Last week in the Shopify App Founders community we shared our App listing page on the Shopify App Store and everyone could give feedback. It was a success! Many people shared their own listing.
And I saw many great listings in the comments! But also bad onesâŚ
So letâs review together what makes a great listing:
1) We understand what your app does in 3 seconds
Thatâs an important point. Merchants are busy and plenty of apps exist for the same things so if they open your app listing and donât understand what your app does, they will close it and open another one.
Help them understand what your app does by following this process:
Clear app title with your main keyword that helps the merchants understand the category
Main image that shows your main feature with texts if itâs not clear enough. If you use a video, make sure we understand what your app does in the first 15 seconds.
The title of the description should explain: Your main feature and your main benefit. You can also highlight why youâre better than competition
2) We understand the value of your app
Too many people focus on features: âHighlight your Instagram images in a carouselâ
Not enough on value: âIncrease your conversions and make more money by showing images of your brandâ
To do this:
Highlights features AND benefits in the images following the main image/video. Donât just show your dashboard, it doesnât make sense for your merchants. They are not trying to understand how your app works but if they should use it.
Use all your bullet points to highlight important features that will help users choose your apps over others and add the value they will receive from these features.
3) Make your listing memorable
You make your listing memorable by writing the way you talk. Avoid complicated and unnecessary words. Itâs also through branding that you can make it memorable.
Powerful name
1-2 main color(s)
Images with a great design using your main colors
Simple and recognizable icon
There is a reason why WideBundle's main color is dark fuchsia and the icon is so simple đ
If you successfully check these 3 points, trust me, youâll have a better conversion rate.
What I suggest is monitoring this through Google Analytics. Make an update and check your conversion rate. Wait for a week, then make another change. And you compare the conversion rate!
To give you some numbers, WideBundleâs conversion rate is between 30% to 40% on the Shopify App Store. I have many reviews and rank in the first positions for my main keywords so it helps, but you can improve yours by following the process above âď¸
