My presentation at Shop Quest
I was invited to speak at ShopQuest in Bangalore about how developers can learn marketing.

Being a developer is already hard. But when you add marketing on top, you gain an unfair advantage. You can see problems and opportunities from both sides, product and growth.
The trip itself was intense. Ten hours of flight, a late arrival at 2 am, and only four days on site. The jet lag hit me hard. But the welcome in India was unforgettable. The service, the kindness, the warmth. I had never experienced anything like it.
The event was incredible. I met so many people who had been following me for years through my newsletter, my tweets, or my videos. Meeting them in person, taking photos together, and talking face to face was special. My talk was well received, and I was glad to share my experience.
What I want to emphasize is the importance of meeting people. Events like these give you motivation. They build your network. And they help you learn from people who invest in themselves.
ShopQuest gave me all of that in just a few days. Memories, lessons, and the certainty that I need to come back.
The AARRR framework for Shopify Apps
Most Shopify app founders don’t really know their numbers.
They’ll say they’re “stuck at $8K MRR” but if you ask about install-to-paid conversion, activation rate, or churn… silence.
That’s the problem.
You can’t grow what you don’t measure.
One of the best ways to structure your growth thinking is the AARRR framework.
It comes from Dave McClure’s Pirate Metrics, but applied to Shopify apps, it’s even more powerful.
Here’s how it looks:
1. Acquisition
This is how merchants discover and install your app.
Most founders stop here. They look only at installs.
The real question is: where do these installs come from?
