Heey everyone! šŸ˜

We just reached $47,000 MRR for WideBundle and WideReview!

We took some time to do it because growth is lower. But we did it. And weā€™re now so close to $50,000 MRR.

$50,000 is a big milestone and I hope to reach it before the end of 2023.

Now we didnā€™t do something different from $25K to $50K.

When I got stuck at $25K for a few months we prepared a strategy to grow again that was basically: hiring someone whose goal was to do more of what was working (in terms of acquisition) and fixing the metrics (such as churn) by following a structured process.

And then we followed the strategy and kept iterating.

And I think each step of your journey should be about doing the same thing repeatedly. You donā€™t need to find a new ā€œhackā€ to expand your growth.

You have to do things constantly.

Here is, in my opinions, what you should do for each step šŸ‘‡

From 0 to $1K MRR: Do things that donā€™t scale

Doing things that donā€™t scale means youā€™ll test a lot and take your time to get the momentum.

You may need to: personally contact every single install, send emails to each user to request a call or ask them why they uninstalled, update your listing daily to test different keywords, etcā€¦

This is about finding what works for you and what doesnā€™t.

And most people here want to find a way to grow to $10K directly. But itā€™s impossible without doing these little things first.

So take your time, and get your users one by one.

From $1K to $10K MRR: Consolidate what you already have

At this point you know what people need, what they want and you can create your roadmap.

You know what channel is working for you and you can double down on it.

You can also start writing processes for things you do or say many times:

  • Helpdesk articles

  • Support processes

  • Internal documentation

This will prepare your next milestone (from 10 to 25)

From $10K to $25K MRR: Itā€™s about hiring

You need to transition from a solo founder to a real company. Your job will now evolve and youā€™ll start putting people who will do a better job than you.

Youā€™ll probably start with customer support, and then developers.

Itā€™s also the perfect time if you want to bring a co-founder since youā€™re small enough.

Create a lot of processes for your team

From $25K to $50K: Fix your mistakes and do more of what is working

I think you should be improving your situation. Like you know what is working for you so make sure you do more of that.

Then you should have a few problems, like metrics not good enough. You should take the time to work on strategies to fix these.

Then I canā€™t tell you how to go from $50K to $100K since I am not there yet. But hopefully Iā€™ll let you know how to do it one day!

Donā€™t forget The Wide Event!

On Saturday 16th of September, we have The Wide Event, itā€™s a Shopify partners event for both partners and merchants.

And we prepared some great talks for you! The speakers will be announced soon.

You should take your tickets and you have 10% off until Saturday 08/26/23 at 11:59 pm (CEST time)

Iā€™ll be there to answer all your questions and share some incredible tips šŸ”„

Back to work

Iā€™ve spent a week in Portugal to visit my family. And Iā€™m coming back tomorrow āœˆļø

Donā€™t forget to take time for yourself, otherwise all of that doesnā€™t make sense.

Weā€™re close to the best period in the year: Q4!

Itā€™s during Q4 that I do my best months in terms of installs. So if you have something to release, you should do it soon!

And I will do it!

I hope you will too!

Thatā€™s it for todayā€™s email!

I hope you enjoyed it! Feel free to share my newsletter with someone else: https://news.matdesousa.com/

And let me know what you want me to talk about in the next email!

See you next week,

Mat šŸ˜
