Mat’s Diary

The end of the Valley of Hope

Last week I told you I was in the Valley of Hope.

This is the time after December when I start to get more installs and I feel like: “We’re back on track"!”

But it’s called the Valley of Hope for a reason.

A few days later, installations suddenly drop.

And it’s happening! Yesterday we didn’t even have 50 installs, when last week we reached 80 installs

When you have a clear objective that is in the future, a minimum of 1 year, you shouldn’t care about it.

The same way you shouldn’t care about bad reviews if you’re working in the long term.

Because no matter what the number of installs does, going down, then up, then down, at the end of the year, what matters is the overall progress you’ve made.

And if you had a clear objective, with clear steps, then just follow it. Trust the process!

My customer support manager is affected personally when we receive bad reviews.

It’s normal, his job is directly linked to the number of reviews.

But I constantly remind him something: We are making more money today than when we didn’t have bad reviews.

At the same time, we have way more good reviews than we used to have.

What’s important here is where you’re going. And if you have a goal that is in 2 or 3 years then the few bad reviews you’ll receive won’t matter anymore.

We’ll be back in February!

My Oura Ring is helping me sleep better

It’s been 2 weeks now since I started using my Oura ring, and the results are amazing.

I don’t sleep well and being able to track my sleep helps me figure out:

  • When I should go to bed

  • When I should wake up

  • When I should rest

  • What patterns I can identify causing bad sleep

I have huge migraines (Ocular Migraines for those who know it) that sometimes send me to the hospital.

I get this from my father (thanks, dad 😁)

One of the main causes is the quality of my sleep. Most of the time when I get one I didn’t sleep well the days before.

So knowing precisely how I’m doing and how my sleep was helps me.

If you have bad sleep, this is a good first step to understanding what is going on.
