Why is my Shopify App stuck at $57,000 MRR?

I didn’t share any new MRR milestone since December.

The truth is: I’m not growing anymore.

So what is happening?

In December we stop growing as every year and usually it starts again in February but this time it’s taking more time.

When you do have installs every month, the real problem is the ratio new users/churn

When your churn is equal to your new paying users, then your growth is equal to 1 so you don’t grow.

And since we have fewer installs compared to the months before Black Friday, the ratio is closer to 1.

But we should grow again in 2024.

Especially because I have my secret weapon that I’ve been testing in October 👀

The homestretch of “Built for Shopify” badge?

Yesterday I submitted BFS. Again.

I had 2 things to change:

  1. The different pages were not nested properly in the left navigation

  2. My onboarding couldn’t be done in any order

The first one was a bug, it was okay.

But the 2nd one was a problem.

I actually didn’t want people to do each step separately. It was created in order for people to do the first step, then the 2nd one, etc.

But Shopify wanted to allow everyone to do the steps they wanted.

It’s not really good when you tried to optimize the onboarding for conversions.

But I had to do it if I wanted to see the impact of BFS!
